Wines - Red Wines - 2009 Syrah Dry Rose'

WINEMAKER NOTES: This version of Syrah is a dry Rosé, vinted in the Blanc de Noir style. This wine is uncommon and difficult to make, but loaded with style and flavor. This Dry Syrah Rosé was made from the nearly black Syrah grapes that our vineyard is very pleased to be producing. Part of the fruit is fermented on the skins which is considered to be the most traditional manner of fermentation. That fruit is destined to be a dark purple wine and will undergo several years of barrel aging. The other part of the fruit is pressed just like a typical white grape, and the hue right out of the press is a gorgeous rosé color. What I have tried to create is a wine that has all of the qualities of a great white wine along with a few qualities of red wine and a beautiful hue to admire. There is a little lip smacking crisp acidity, and it is paired with a fruitiness reminiscent of summertime strawberries and blackberries. Let the wine finish on your palate and enjoy the hint of spicy fresh ground pepper. |
